Episode 472 | Church Solutions Podcast Recap
In this week’s episode of the Church Solutions Podcast, hosts Phil Thompson and Steve Lacy welcome a special guest from across the globe—Armen Adamian, founder and CEO of Eststerox, a digital solutions company based in Armenia. From ancient church history to modern tech innovation, Armen brings a powerful blend of faith, culture, and coding to the table.
📍 Meet Armen: A Passionate Innovator with Deep Roots in Faith
Armen Adamian is not only an engineer and entrepreneur—he’s also a believer driven to help churches and ministries through technology. His company, Eststerox, specializes in web and mobile development, with a strong focus on church tech, education, and even sports technology.
But Armen isn’t just innovating from anywhere—he’s innovating from Armenia, the first nation in the world to adopt Christianity as its state religion in 301 AD. With ancient churches dotting the mountainous landscape and 97% of its population still identifying as Christian, Armenia is steeped in spiritual heritage.
🕊 Armenia: Ancient Faith, Modern Challenges
Armen gave us a fascinating glimpse into the spiritual and geopolitical context of Armenia. Surrounded on three sides by predominantly Muslim nations, Armenia has faced persecution, war, and cultural pressure throughout its history. Despite this, its Christian identity remains resilient.
“In 400 AD,” Armen shared, “our priest invented the Armenian alphabet to translate the Bible. The first book ever written in our language was the Bible. It preserved our faith and culture for centuries.”
Even today, Armenia faces modern challenges. Like the West, urbanization, busy lifestyles, and digital distractions have pulled people—especially younger generations—away from church life. While rural villages maintain stronger community ties, city dwellers often find it harder to prioritize spiritual engagement.
🖥️ Technology and the Church: A Complicated Relationship
Armen and his team at Eststerox have developed multiple digital tools for churches, including mobile apps and faith-based content platforms. But it hasn’t always been easy.
“In Armenia, many churches, especially Orthodox ones, were hesitant to adopt technology,” Armen said. “They were afraid that people would stop coming to church and just watch sermons online.” Sound familiar?
It’s a challenge that echoes in many countries, including the United States. But Armen and his team have made headway by showing how tech can serve—not replace—human connection. One example is their church app that bridges spiritual content and community engagement, as well as tools like the Parish Time app for Catholic churches.
🎯 Sports Tech and Beyond
Eststerox isn’t just about church tech. The company also dives into sports technology, having developed a target-shooting app that tracks scoring and timing during competitions. This project, initiated by an Armenian connection in Switzerland, highlights how Eststerox blends precision, performance, and passion in everything they do.
🌍 Global Reach through Local Faith
Armen also shared that Armenia’s small size is balanced by its global diaspora—with 7 million Armenians living outside the country. This international network provides a unique advantage, allowing Eststerox to expand beyond borders while maintaining strong cultural and spiritual values.
“We support each other, trust each other, and work together. That’s our strength,” Armen noted.
🤝 A Message of Unity and Purpose
Despite denominational differences (Armen himself is Armenian Catholic, while the majority of the country is Orthodox), Armen emphasizes unity in purpose. “When people focus on Jesus above church politics, collaboration happens—like in our pro-life work.”
